The 4 Days Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga is designed for travelers who want to truly experience the desert — not just pass through it. While our popular 3-day Sahara tour is a wonderful introduction, this extended journey gives you the breathing room to slow down, explore deeper, and come home with memories that last a lifetime.
The extra day transforms your desert stay into a genuine immersion. You spend two full nights at the Merzouga desert camp, enjoy a dedicated adventure day in the dunes, visit a real Berber nomad family, experience authentic Gnawa music, and wake up to not one but two breathtaking Sahara sunrises. All of this, without a single moment of rushing.
En route, the journey itself is spectacular. You'll cross the dramatic High Atlas Mountains via Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260m), explore the UNESCO World Heritage Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, discover the film city of Ouarzazate, drive through the Valley of Roses, and walk the spectacular Todra Gorges — before arriving at the legendary golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga. Explore all of our Morocco destinations to plan the perfect itinerary.

Two full nights in Merzouga means you're living the desert, not sprinting through it. Wake up twice to dunes at sunrise and fall asleep twice under the stars.
Day 3 is entirely yours — quad biking, sandboarding, 4x4 desert exploration, nomad visits, or simply watching the light change over the dunes. Your choice.
A guided walk through Ait Ben Haddou — Morocco's most celebrated World Heritage Site and film location for blockbusters including Gladiator and Game of Thrones.
Visit a real Berber nomad family in their traditional desert tent. Share mint tea, hear their stories, and experience a way of life that has lasted for thousands of years.
Three dinners and three breakfasts — generous, home-cooked Moroccan and Berber cuisine throughout the entire 4-day journey. No hidden meal costs.
Your guide's number is with you from day one. We're reachable morning, night, and everywhere in between — your safety and comfort always come first.
Four carefully designed days, each one revealing a completely different and breathtaking side of Morocco — from High Atlas peaks to golden Sahara dunes.
Your driver picks you up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech. The journey begins with a dramatic climb through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass (2,260m) — Morocco's highest paved road. Multiple panoramic stops for photos of snow-capped peaks, Berber mountain villages, and sweeping valleys.
An ancient fortified ksar that has served as the backdrop for some of cinema's greatest films — Gladiator, Game of Thrones, Lawrence of Arabia, The Mummy, and many more. Your guide leads you through the labyrinthine mud-brick alleys and up to the breathtaking hilltop views.
Explore the gateway city to the Sahara — home to Morocco's famous Atlas Studios. Visit the impressive 19th-century Kasbah Taourirt and enjoy free time for lunch at a local restaurant (not included). Perfect photo opportunities throughout.
Drive through the lush palm groves of the Skoura Oasis and the fragrant Valley of Roses — world-famous for its annual rose harvest and production of Damask rose water. Traditional kasbahs line the road through this beautiful river valley.
Arrive in the spectacular Dades Valley as the afternoon light turns the gorge walls a deep ochre. Dinner and overnight at your guesthouse or hotel with views of this extraordinary landscape. A peaceful, unhurried end to a full first day.
Morning visit to the spectacular Todra Gorges near Tinghir — towering 300-metre limestone canyon walls carved over millennia by the Todra river. Walk through the narrow gorge, touch the ancient rock, and feel the scale of the natural world around you. One of Morocco's most awe-inspiring sights.
Drive through the ancient towns of Tinjdad, Jorf, and Erfoud — passing through the vast Tafilalet Oasis, the historic southern gateway to the Sahara. Stop in Rissani, one of Morocco's most important historic trading centres and birthplace of the Alaouite dynasty.
Arrive in Merzouga and mount your camel for the iconic ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes. As the sun descends, the sand transforms from amber to deep gold to rose. Climb the highest dune for a panoramic sunset view you'll remember for the rest of your life.
Settle into your desert camp for a traditional Berber dinner under the open sky. After the meal, your Berber hosts play live drum and guembri music around the campfire. Sleep in your nomadic tent beneath a ceiling of stars — no light pollution, no noise, just the silence of the Sahara.
Rise before dawn for your first sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes — a quiet, deeply moving experience as warm golden light slowly spills across the sand sea. Breakfast at camp before the day's adventures begin.
Explore the vast landscapes surrounding Merzouga by 4x4 — dry riverbeds, hidden dune formations, petrified wood fields, and the diverse desert terrain that most visitors on shorter tours never get to see. Your guide shares deep local knowledge at every stop.
Meet a real nomadic Berber family living in their traditional goat-hair tent in the desert. Sit together, share mint tea, and listen to stories of life in the Sahara. This is the kind of authentic human encounter that changes the way you see the world — and the reason many travelers choose the 4-day tour.
Visit a Gnawa music house in Merzouga village. Gnawa is a UNESCO-recognized spiritual music tradition rooted in West African heritage, unique to Morocco. The live performance — hypnotic rhythms, call-and-response vocals, and the distinctive guembri bass — is extraordinary.
Thrill-seekers can arrange quad biking across the dunes or try sandboarding down the steep faces of Erg Chebbi — both available locally at an additional cost. We can pre-arrange everything when you book. Simply let us know your interest.
Your second evening in the Sahara is often described by guests as even more special than the first — because you're fully relaxed, fully present, and fully at home. Second sunset, second campfire, second night of sleeping under the Milky Way in absolute tranquility.
Wake early once more for your second Sahara sunrise — guests tell us this one often feels even more precious than the first, because you know it's the last. A quiet, beautiful morning in the desert before the journey home begins.
Enjoy a relaxed morning camel ride back to the meeting point, then sit down for breakfast at the camp before starting your return to Marrakech. A perfect final Sahara morning.
Begin the return drive to Marrakech, taking a different scenic route through Berber villages, mountain valleys, and the dramatic Atlas foothills. Scenic stops and photo opportunities along the way. Your guide shares stories and local insights throughout the journey.
Drop-off at your hotel or riad in Marrakech. You arrive back in the city with sand in your shoes, stars in your memory, and an experience of Morocco that most visitors never reach. The end of an extraordinary 4-day Sahara desert adventure.
The 4-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga isn't just a longer trip — it's a fundamentally different experience. Here's why travelers who choose 4 days never wish they'd chosen fewer.
Your first sunrise in the desert is magical. Your second is transformative. Two mornings means you wake up completely unhurried, make yourself tea at camp, and simply sit with the dunes as the light shifts. This is what the 4-day tour is really about.
Day 3 belongs to you. Quad biking across the dunes, sandboarding down 100m slopes, a 4x4 desert exploration, or simply wandering — there's no schedule, no rushing, and no sense that the bus is waiting. The 3-day version simply cannot offer this.
The extra day makes possible what shorter tours cannot — a real visit to a nomad family, a live Gnawa music performance, and deeper conversations with your Berber guide about desert life, history, and culture. This is Morocco beyond the surface.
Spreading the journey over 4 days means shorter driving segments each day — roughly 3–4 hours rather than 5–6. Every stop along the way becomes a destination rather than a photo break. You arrive at each place rested, curious, and ready to explore.
At just €30 more than the 3-day price (Standard package), you gain an entire extra day of experiences, a second desert night, more meals, and far more memories. The 4-day Sahara tour offers some of the best value of any tour available in Morocco.
Many travelers on 3-day tours feel they "needed more time" when they return. The 4-day format is designed for travelers who want to absorb Morocco rather than collect it. If you're traveling to Morocco to experience it — not just photograph it — this is the tour for you.
Transparent pricing — no surprises, no hidden extras. Everything you need to know before you book.

★★★★★ "The guide was professional, knowledgeable and made us feel completely safe the entire time." — Sarah M., UK Ask Us Anything — We Reply FastThe Sahara is beautiful year-round — but each season offers a very different experience. Here's what to expect month by month, so you can plan the perfect 4-day Sahara tour from Marrakech.
Warm days, cool nights, low crowds. The dunes glow with perfect golden light. October is widely considered the single best month for desert touring in Morocco.
22–32°C days · 10–15°C nightsMild temperatures, blooming landscapes in the valleys, occasional desert flowers. Exceptional light for photography and very comfortable desert nights.
20–30°C days · 12–18°C nightsCrisp, clear skies with extraordinary stargazing. Cold nights (pack warm layers). Possible snow on the High Atlas Pass. Fewer tourists and a raw, dramatic atmosphere.
15–22°C days · 2–8°C nightsExtreme daytime heat (40°C+) in the desert. Doable but demanding — best suited to heat-acclimatized travelers. Luxury tent A/C makes a real difference in this season.
38–45°C days · 22–28°C nightsNot sure when to go? We can help.
Our team runs this route year-round and knows exactly which weeks offer the best weather, smallest crowds, and most beautiful desert light. Message us with your travel dates and we'll give you an honest recommendation. Check our Morocco travel blog for seasonal guides.

Honest words from guests who made the choice — and came back with stories they still tell years later.
The extra day in the desert made all the difference. We went sandboarding, visited a nomad family, and had two sunrises over the dunes. By day 3 we felt completely at home in the Sahara. This is the only tour I'd recommend to someone who truly wants the desert experience — not just a quick glimpse.
We chose the 4-day over the 3-day because we wanted more time and we were absolutely right. The quad biking on day 3 was incredible. The Gnawa music visit was something I never expected and it completely blew me away. Book the extra day — you won't regret it.
Two nights in the desert was a dream. The second night was even more magical than the first because we were completely relaxed. Our guide arranged a visit to a nomad family which was one of the most meaningful travel experiences of my life. This is Morocco at its most authentic.
The luxury tent upgrade was worth every euro for two nights — private bathroom, real beds, and air conditioning in the middle of the Sahara. I laughed every time I used the shower! Perfect for couples who want the full adventure without sacrificing comfort.
For €130 per person across 4 days, this is the best value trip I've ever done in my life. Three nights' accommodation, meals, transport, camels, and a full adventure day. Our group of 5 still talks about it six months later. Do not hesitate — just book it.

Real answers to the questions our guests ask most — before booking the 4 Days Sahara Desert Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga.
For travelers who want to genuinely experience the Sahara — yes, significantly better. The extra day means two full nights in Merzouga, a dedicated adventure day for quad biking, sandboarding, and 4x4 exploration, a visit to a real Berber nomad family, a Gnawa music house session, and a much more relaxed driving pace throughout the journey (3–4 hours per day instead of 5–6). The 3-day tour from Marrakech to Merzouga is a brilliant option if you have limited time — but the 4-day tour is the one most guests wish they'd chosen after completing the 3-day version. For just €30 more, the experience is fundamentally transformed.
Day 1: approximately 4–5 hours of driving from Marrakech to the Dades Valley, broken into multiple scenic stops (Tizi n'Tichka Pass, Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate, Valley of Roses). Day 2: approximately 3–4 hours from Dades Valley to Merzouga, including a stop at Todra Gorges. Day 3: minimal driving — this is your free adventure day in Merzouga. Day 4: approximately 5–6 hours return to Marrakech with scenic stops. All vehicles are air-conditioned, comfortable, and well-maintained. The pace is relaxed — we stop whenever you want to photograph, explore, or simply stretch.
We offer two desert camp levels. The Normal and Standard packages include traditional Berber-style tents with comfortable mattresses, bed linen, warm blankets, and shared bathroom facilities. The Luxury package includes premium private tents with en-suite bathrooms (hot shower & WC), real beds, and air conditioning — a remarkable level of comfort in the middle of the Sahara. All camp levels include the same beautiful desert location, Berber dinner, live campfire music, and full stargazing access. Both camp levels are fully registered and inspected operations.
Our 4-day Sahara tour operates as a small group shared tour — typically 4 to 8 travelers in one vehicle with a dedicated driver/guide. If you prefer a fully private tour (your group only, with exclusive vehicle and guide), please contact us on WhatsApp and we'll provide a custom price for your party size and dates. Private tours are available at any time of year and can be customized with additional stops or activities on request.
For clothing: light, breathable layers for daytime and a warm jacket or fleece for cool desert nights (temperatures drop to 5–10°C in winter months). Essential items: high-SPF sunscreen, quality sunglasses, a sun hat, comfortable closed-toe walking shoes, and a scarf or shemagh for sand protection during the camel ride. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, a portable phone charger, and a camera (the light is extraordinary). Bring personal toiletries for 4 days, any prescription medications, and some Moroccan Dirhams for lunches and optional activities. A small day bag for hikes is useful. You can leave large luggage in the vehicle during desert camp nights.
Six meals are included across the 4 days: 3 dinners and 3 breakfasts. Lunches are not included — you'll eat at local restaurants en route (budget €5–12 per lunch). Moroccan cuisine is naturally very vegetarian-friendly — tagines, couscous, salads, and Berber bread are all staples. Simply mention your dietary requirements when booking (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, dairy-free) and every included meal will be adapted at no extra cost.
Absolutely — families are very welcome and the 4-day tour is actually ideal for children because the relaxed pace means no exhausted or restless kids in the backseat. The camel ride, adventure day (sandboarding is particularly popular with children), nomad family visit, and campfire music are all experiences that children find magical. Let us know the ages of your children when booking and we'll plan the adventure day activities accordingly. The Luxury camp package is particularly recommended for families with young children, for the en-suite bathroom convenience.
Yes — we offer flexible customization for the 4-day tour. Common additions include: a sunrise hot air balloon ride over Marrakech at the start of Day 1 (see our Marrakech hot air balloon experience), extra stops at specific kasbahs or filming locations, photography-focused scheduling for the best golden hour light, extended stays in particular valleys, or a transfer to Fes rather than returning to Marrakech (similar to our Marrakech to Fes desert tour). Contact us on WhatsApp with your wishlist and we'll build the perfect custom journey.
We pick up directly from your hotel, riad, or accommodation in Marrakech at 07:30. Share your accommodation address when booking and we'll confirm your exact pickup point by WhatsApp the evening before. We can also arrange airport pickup from Marrakech Menara Airport at the start of your trip — see our Marrakech airport transfer service. On Day 4, you'll be dropped off at your Marrakech accommodation at approximately 19:30.
We understand that travel plans change. Our policy is flexible and traveler-friendly: cancellations made 7 or more days before your departure date incur no charge. Cancellations 3–6 days before departure incur a partial fee. Cancellations within 48 hours may be subject to the full tour cost. Date changes are handled with complete flexibility where availability allows. We strongly recommend travel insurance for international travelers. For our complete and most current cancellation terms, visit our FAQ page or contact us directly on WhatsApp — we're always happy to discuss your specific situation.
